SCHOLARSHIPS
It is Thorne’s goal that all Boulder County youth, regardless of race, ethnicity, or income, have the opportunity to connect with nature.
Camp Scholarships
Thorne Nature Experience offers financial assistance each year to help families who couldn’t otherwise afford Thorne Camp. If you would love for your child to have the Thorne Camp experience, but cannot afford the full price, or if you are experiencing crises such as loss of housing, serious illness, or a caregiver’s job loss, you are welcome to request financial assistance on the Camper Application. We do not assess financial need and trust families to request only the support they require, so we can assist as many campers as possible.
Summer Camp Scholarships
To request financial assistance, you must fill out the camper application as normal, make the selection to request financial assistance, and pay the 50% deposit as normal.
Our Financial Assistance program will credit $280 to your account if you apply before all the funding has been granted. The remaining price of our 1-week camps will be $280 or $310.
Funding is limited, and requesting financial assistance on the camper application is not a guarantee of receiving a credit on your account. If you do make a request and we are not able to provide assistance, you will be offered a full refund of the 50% deposit. Please allow us two weeks to confirm whether or not you will be granted financial assistance.
Scholarships for Other Camps
Thorne offers limited scholarships for our school-day-off camps. Email camp@thornenature.org or call 303.499.3647 ext. 120 for more information about scholarship opportunities.
Nature Kids/Jóvenes de la Naturaleza
Full scholarships are offered for Thorne Camps and other nature-based programs for the Nature Kids/Jóvenes de la Naturaleza (NKJN) community. NKJN is a coalition that expands access to nature for Boulder County youth and families from historically excluded identities or who are facing significant barriers. You can learn more about NKJN HERE; to join our community, please email nkjn@thornenature.org. Registration will be available late January to early February.
