NATURE’S RECIPE

What INGREDIENTS Make a Good ecosystem?

Come explore at Thorne’s signature 2nd-grade field trip, now hosted at our new home—the Lafayette Nature Center! This immersive experience invites students into the heart of Colorado’s natural landscapes to discover what makes a habitat healthy for plants, animals, and people alike.

Students rotate through four to five interactive stations in small groups of 10–15, using field guides and their observation skills to investigate the unique features of local riparian and grassland ecosystems.

Through scientific inquiry, data collection, and real-world exploration, students examine biodiversity and consider the impact of humans on the environment.

Aligned with Colorado Academic Standards, this program:

  • deepens observation skills

  • builds confidence in outdoor learning

For the cost of $15*/per child, students leave with a stronger connection to nature and a growing sense of environmental stewardship.
