Winter Wander in South Boulder
Places to Visit in the Winter
Do you have a special place in nature that you go back to over and over? The South Boulder Creek trail near Marshall has been a special place for many Thorne staff members over the years. Like many of the natural places that we visit, this area acquired a nickname amongst the Thorne staff- Grandmother Tree trail. The nickname came from a giant cottonwood tree that once stood right next to the trail. Unfortunately, this beautiful tree blew over in the Marshall fire windstorm, but the fallen tree remains next to the trail and this is still a fantastic place to visit.
As the cold weather season approaches, make sure you add this favorite spot to your list of places to visit. The South Boulder Creek trail is a lovely flat dirt trail that is a fun place for kids of all ages to explore on foot or by bike year-round. There are large tree trunks, beautiful views, prairie dogs, and South Boulder Creek flows alongside sections of the path. Please note that the South Boulder Creek trail is a nature preserve, so dogs aren’t allowed.
